If you look at other contemporary computers, they did cost more although sometimes it wasn’t a fair comparison. After all, 64K of RAM! Graphics with 16 whole colors! dug up a bunch of these ads and has some thoughts on them and we really enjoyed the trip down memory lane. But in the 1980s, the Commodore 64 bragged that for $595, they’d give you more than anyone else at twice the price. Maybe not the top of the line, but still pretty nice with multiple cores, a large hard drive, and a big color screen.

Running on software render slows down a bit in some areas, but it's still surprisingly good.ĮDIT: macOS seems to still support Vulkan, which still works, but PCSX2 don't have any render plugins that use Vulkan as far as I know.If you shop, you can get a pretty nice laptop for around $595. Runs perfect on hardware render but there appears to be issues with rendering (graphics appear distorted) but was fixed by switching to software. However I seem to be having some issues using 1.5.0 development version. As for me, it runs perfectly great without any issues using PCSX2 1.4.0. Possibly will crash too.Īnd for the speed, it varies on Mac computers from what I've noticed. Sadly, PCSX2 requires latest version of OpenGL and without it, it won't run properly. They're slowly removing OpenGL, which is why it's still there. Apple already had announced that they're no longer supporting OpenGL on their devices, starting with macOS Mojave 10.14 and iOS 12, in favor of Metal. However, for OpenGL, yes it is still there but only outdated. I'm not sure how this works exactly, if you want to know about it I suggest looking it up yourself.īut this wrapper works just fine on Catalina as I've tested it myself.

However, there is a tweak/hack called "wine32on64" which runs 32-bit code inside 64-bit application. Yes, Mojave was the last OS to support 32-bit applications and Catalina actually removed the support, so technically WINE shouldn't be able to run on Catalina. Inside the wrapper, it has WINE, DirectX 9/10/11, and Visual Studio runtime needed to run PCSX2 so the app is slightly bigger than PCSX2 itself (around 3GB). To start off, PROM (short for PCSX2 Running on Mac) is the wrapper created by me. I hope that posting this here will clear up confusions among y'all. I had heard from some people on Discord that there are people confused about Mac compatibility.
